Tuesday, 2nd October 2018 marked an intense game between Northampton Town Football Club and Bury. This match, sponsored by PTS Training Academy, was the first for the new Cobbler’s manager Keith Curle who replaced Dean Austin after a series of defeats. The pitch of PTS Academy Stadium saw the team take a new formation in the opening of the match with 4,073 people filling the stands to watch.
Included in that number were PTS Training Academy founders Byron Thomas and Matthew Joyce, as well as Assistant Director Lewis Perkins. All three of them were delighted to watch the likes of Ash Taylor and Matt Crooks take to the pitch, representing the town of Northampton.
The match showcased the two goalkeepers’ brilliant defense. Joe Murphy, GK for Bury, fought off repeated attempts to net the ball from players such as Andy Williams and Leon Barnett. Matt Joyce highlighted Northampton goalkeeper David Cornell as man of the match, no doubt for his numerous saves against goal attacks from Bury’s strikers.
