What is a Traineeship?

Traineeships have been developed in response to research showing that young people frequently lack the knowledge and experience employers expect in the workplace.
A traineeship is a flexible training programme with work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people, aged 16 to 24, and prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.
At its core are a high-quality work experience placement with an employer, with work preparation training and English and maths if needed. This gives young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for, helping them secure an apprenticeship or other job in the future.
How traineeship programmes can benefit employers?

Tailored to meet your organisation’s needs
Traineeships are flexible. We can help you to tailor the Traineeships that meet the needs of your business. You decide how the programme is delivered to maximise the efficiency, productivity and find the right people with the right values and behaviours to work in your organisation.

Test-first approach
A Traineeship is an ideal tool for young people to become ‘work-ready’ before being employed in a permanent role or before starting an Apprenticeship. The traineeship programme also gives you as an employer the opportunity to see whether the trainee is committed and reliable.

Contribution to your local community
Our traineeships provide you with the freedom to shape the skills and experience of young people from your local community, allowomg you to nurture the next generation, helping your business to increase its capacity, and productivity, develop a loyal, talented workforce and contribute to tackling youth unemployment.

Develop your work force.
Your current employees will have the opportunity to build their own mentoring and coaching skills while supporting the trainee. Also by providing trainees with at least 100 hours work experience you can bring significant capacity into your business.

Reduced Recruitment Costs
Training costs will be met by government funding. There is also a free recruitment site to advertise your traineeship opportunities. It is a well-known fact that more than 20% of new employees decide to stay with or quit an organisation in the first one to two weeks of their employment. By working closely together we can design a programme to help build a pool of high quality future recruits.
